Martha's 100 reasons to train with a personal trainer

Martha is not a member at Willpower Gym, but she comes every week to train at the gym with her personal trainer Tyler. She is another example of exceptional drive, dedication and consistency.

If you are looking for some inspiration and a good reason to start training with a personal trainer at Willpower Gym, she has 100 to offer!

Take a listen below,

WP All right, good morning Martha. What initiated your health and wellness journey?

Martha: Truthfully, when I was 39, my best friend said, if you don't get fit by 40, you will never get fit. So my birthday gift that year, she gave me a year of a trainer. So I have been with a trainer since I'm 39 years old and it's been a number of years. So that's what started it.

WP: And how has that training changed your life and your personal goals, allowing you the adventures and the world travel that you like?

Martha: Well, I think it has served many purposes in my life, fitness and health.Everything from stress management to mental health, to physical health, to weight loss, to consistency. And I value all of those things. So for me, it's an anchor point in my week and it really sets me up to feel like I've accomplished something every single day. So that's why I do it on the reg, but really why I do it is so I can be strong and I can do the things I really want to do. So I can put my suitcase in the overhead bin, so I can hike around a big city or hike up a big hill or swim in a river, so I can do the things I want to do in life.

WP: And as you've started coming to Willpower, what is it about the environment and or the community that you've noticed and that you like?

Martha: I've gone to every single possible kind of gym over the last 30 years. So from private gyms to working out at home, to trainers, to big box gyms, to hotel gyms, to fitness classes. And what I really appreciate about here, is it's a very safe atmosphere. It's not intimidating. The people are super friendly. The front desk staff is awesome. And I appreciate being able to kind of come and go and feel welcome.

WP: Great. And then you talked a little bit about it, but your end goals, your end goals and your long-term goals, over time have those things changed?

Martha: Oh goodness, yes. They have changed from, wanting to be able to run one mile, to being strong enough to pick up my child and put his wheelchair in the back of the car, to looking skinny and super fit, to losing weight, to gaining weight, to mental health. But I think the biggest thing for me is challenging myself and finding out what I can do for myself over the long term and that no one can judge me for it because it's my own competition.

WP: Great. Thank you, Martha. We love having you at Willpower.

Martha: Peace out.
